 Jane
Norton founded Eartheal because of her love for the natural world and a desire
to engage others in experiencing its' magnificence, in understanding our interdependence
with nature and the impacts of our choices on it, and in making choices and taking
actions that are beneficial and regenerative. The name Eartheal signifies a reciprocal
healing interaction between humans and nature -when we engage in restorative acts
for the Earth, we are healed as well.
Jane is a designer, group facilitator,
and catalyst for personal and cultural transformation. In addition to founding
and serving as Chief Visionary Officer for Eartheal (www.eartheal.org),
she has a consulting firm, Re-Sourcing Natural Solutions, (www.resourcingthefuture.com
under construction) which offers coaching, consulting, and seminars for creating
sustainable organizations and communities. Jane developed a model, called Re-Sourcing,
that combines natural laws, spiritual principles, and a co-creative visioning/manifestation
process. She has 15 years experience working with a variety of corporate, educational,
non-profit and governmental organizations offering seminars, coaching, and consulting
in creativity, team building, leadership, and sustainable business development.
As an adjunct faculty member of the Center for Creative Leadership, she co-created
the Leadership for a Sustainable World research project. Jane
has a B.S. in Interior Design, and a Master's in Community Design/ Landscape Architecture.
She has been an active board member of many community organizations serving women,
healing, peace making, the arts and environmental education. A deep connection
to nature and being a mother and grandmother are the experiences that fuel her
passion for making the world a place that 'nurtures and sustains all life now
and for future generations'. Board
Ken Krebs became involved
with Eartheal because of an interest in supporting awareness and enjoyment of
the natural environment. From a childhood romping around in the southern woods
surrounding Winston-Salem, to graduating high school in upstate New York, to settling
in the Research Trinagle Park are, Ken has enjoyed much of his free time exploring
the outdoor natural environment in a number of ways. He brings to Eartheal this
love of the environment and a desire to help Eartheal further their mission of
encouraging healthier, sustainable lifestyles more connected with and in celebration
of nature. Ken is an analytical
chemist with a federal agency dedicated to protecting the environment. Through
his work he has gained a professional appreciation of our impact, as a society,
on the environment. When not at work, he is often volunteering for various civic
organizations promoting political and environmental awareness. Hobbies such as
beekeeping and astonomy also keep him in close contact with the natural environment.
Mieke Rose assists
others with their emotional and spiritual explorations through coaching, counseling
and classes. Her approach is rooted in the healing powers of meditation, nature
and being present to the moment. She agrees with Richard Louv that many of us
suffer from 'Nature Deficit Disorder', defined as "the cumulative effect
of withdrawing nature from our experience." Reconnecting with nature and
finding the interface with our inner landscape and essence is what gives her passion
and direction in her work. Mieke has 30 years experience in counseling and
has a background in psychology, Vipassana, several energy healing modalities and
eco-theraphy. She is co-creator and caretaker of Emergo, a small healing center
near Chapel Hill, NC where, among other things, she shows weekly videos of Eckhart
Tolle (The Power of Now) for the public. The lands around Emergo were bought by
Mieke and her husband, with several of their neighbors, safeguarding 100+ acres
as a nature preserve. Carolee Carlson
graduated from The School of Journalism and Mass Communication at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, specializing in Advertising and
Marketing, with special interest in Business. Earning a second degree in French
studies, she worked in Paris, afterwards returning to the States to broaden her
advertising skills at the Miami Ad School of Miami, Florida. After working for
Raleigh ad agencies, she enjoyed working as a freelance brand strategist and account
planner for small businesses. Honored to be working as a coach, she brings her
marketing skills to Inspire, Inc. in order to support businesses and other coaches
in sharing their purposes and passion with the world. Her other volunteer contributions
include being a Board member of the Carrboro Greenspace and on the Education Committee
of Sustainable North Carolina. Sue Anne
Solem has spent most of her life teaching elementary school, being in plays,
singing in choruses, choreographing and dancing, doing political action work for
non-profits, hiking and camping all over the country, being a health food fanatic,
and taking just about every kind of workshop and seminar in the areas of the natural
sciences and spirituality. She is retired from teaching, but still teaching as
much as she can, currently as an environmental educator for both Chestnut Ridge
and Agape Camp and Conference Centers, doing the two things she loves the most:
teaching and being outdoors. Sue Anne is a docent at Duke Gardens, and learning
to be one at NC Botanical Gardens. She sings with a women's vocal group called
Jewelsong, and facilitates drumming events for children and parents with Music
Explorium. Sue Anne is working on her N.C. Environmental Education certification,
so she's taking lots of science workshops with various state agencies and museums,
and travels for pleasure and learning about the environment. Last summer she went
to Brazil to learn about the Pantanal, the world's largest wetland, and this january,
saw over 80,000 snow geese and many thousands of tundra swans at Pungo Lake, NC,
as part of this pursuit. Affiliations
